About Us

We are a group of Falun Dafa practitioners who have greatly benefited from this practice. Thus, Angela and Skylet co-founded a Falun Dafa student club at the University of British Columbia (UBC) in 2014, called AMS Falun Dafa Fellowship at UBC (FDF), to share this wonderful practice and its benefits with everyone.

Angela Yu was almost paralyzed with lumbar disc prolapse in 2005. Although she was able to complete her PhD in Educational Psychology at UBC in 2008 (dissertation: https://circle.ubc.ca/handle/2429/1519), she was unable to work. She started doing yoga, Tai Chi, and qigong for 2 to 3 hours a day, but the effects were minimal and she still needed more than 12 hours of sleep plus a nap every day. In December 2012, she happened across Falun Dafa online. After practicing Dafa for just 3 months, she made a full recovery. Now she sleeps about 5 hours a day but has more energy than ever before. Thus, she decided to come back to UBC as an unclassified student in 2014 so that she could be the treasurer of FDF to share the good news of Dafa with UBC fellows.

Skylet Yu, Angela’s niece, obtained better health and higher academic achievements after practicing Dafa. As she had a stomach ulcer, her doctor advised her to avoid spicy, fatty, and acidic foods as much as possible for the rest of her life. After practicing Dafa for just one month, however, she made a full recovery and can now eat anything. Having greatly benefited from the practice, she was happy to serve as the president of FDF.

There are other practitioners at UBC who began practicing Falun Dafa before they came to UBC or Canada. Some of them have been persecuted for practicing Falun Dafa (see History of Falun Dafa for details of the persecution).

Therefore, our FDF aims to:

  • introduce Falun Dafa and its benefits to the UBC community, free of charge;
  • create a safe and supportive place that allows all UBC fellows to exercise and study Dafa together; and
  • raise UBC fellows’ awareness of the ongoing persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners in China.
