March 25, 2015 (FDF’s Annual General Meeting (AGM))

A big thanks to those who voted and to those who came out to our AGM that was held in Neville Scarfe Rm 203 between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.! We’re happy to announce that Skylet Yu and Angela Yu have been re-elected as the president and treasurer, respectively, for the following school year! Thank you everyone for your feedback and suggestions. We will try our best to realize them! Hope to see all of you at our next events!

January 8-9, 2015 (Frost Fest Thursday & Friday)

A big thanks to those who came by our booth (in the SUB) Frost Fest Thursday and Friday (between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.) and signed up to become a member of our club! Also, congratulations to Preetham Nayak, who won the raffle draw for TWO Shen Yun tickets valued at $170.00 each for a total of $340.00!

October 27-31, 2014 (The International Art Exhibition of Truth-Compassion-Tolerance)

A big thanks to those who came by our International Art Exhibition of Truth-Compassion-Tolerance during the last week of October in the SUB.

The Art of Truth-Compassion-Tolerance brings together the work of eighteen Falun Gong artists. The exhibit’s pieces not only give poignant, visual treatment of the persecution to Falun Gong practitioners in China, but also depict the artists’ inner life and their firsthand experiences. This combination provides an intimate and unique window into the often untold Chinese experience of the past 15 years.

The techniques and styles of their work are mostly classical, as the artists apply classical oil painting techniques. They consider their art-forms as “Neo-Renaissance.” Several other works involve classical Chinese motifs painted on silk or paper, valuable for those interested in Chinese art and culture.

October 9, 2014 (FDF Ice Breaker)

A big thanks to those who dropped by during our ice breaker (in SUB 215) and signed up to become a member of our club! We’re very happy that everyone really appreciated the no-added-MSG vegetarian food, including spring rolls, jai lo mei (wheat gluten in different flavours, such as curry and sweet and sour), deep fried taro rolls, vegetarian duck, turnip cakes, water chestnut pudding from Bodhi Choi Heung Vegetarian Restaurant and healthy naturally-grown tea (including four season tea, jasmine tea, oolong tea) from Lai Lai Tea Store. We had a great time talking with all of you and we hope you did too!

New members received a goodie folder of their colour choice packed with individually packaged teabags, a variety of Chinese rice crackers, FDF’s bookmarks, and a Falun Dafa magazine or pamphlet. Thank you all again for your participation!

September 16-18, 2014 (UBC Clubs Days)

A big thanks to those who came by our booth (in front of Triple O’s) on UBC Imagine Day (between 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.) in spite of the pouring rain and congratulations to the winners of the raffle draw (we hope you enjoy your box of healthy naturally-grown tea from the high mountains of Taiwan!)! For those of you who haven’t picked up your prize yet, please come by our booth during Clubs Days (Sept. 16-18) in SUB 214/216 any time between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to pick it up. Just bring/show a copy of the congratulations email you received from us.
